The November workshop was a great success. While some participants worked from 'life', setting up still-life scenes to work from, otherss brought in photographic references to work from. The results were great, see below..
Connecting with on-going personal practice.
Using photo-reference meant those who wanted to, were able to use the workshop as a space to progress and deepen their on-going art projects. In some cases linked to other long term courses they are attending.Side-by-side inspiration.
I was happy to see that having some people working from life and others from photo-reference worked seamlessly in the studio. Those who worked from photos were able to link the workshop to their ongoing personal art projects or themes. Others preferred to set up still life subjects, focussing on lighting, composition and the task of translating the 3D world into a painting. The weekend flew by with periods of calm concentration interspersed by tutor instruction and lively conversation about ideas, themes and discoveries. Thanks to all who attended and helped make this workshop exciting and productive.
